JFK: Smoking Gun
A theory from 16 years ago sees new life in the form of the above program which ran on Reelz tonight. Read the book, heard the theory, and an Aussie Detective of some note has "applied his investigative knowledge" to the theory to come up with the above program for Reelz.
I have to admit that of all the theories I have read, and there have been a virtual cornucopia of them, this one for some strange reason seems naggingly plausible simply because it so incredibly asinine as to have some measure of likelihood to have happened.
So Oswald is up on the 6th floor and the motorcade is approaching. He begins to load his rifle, after first ejecting the plug cartridge in the weapon. (Third spent cartridge found there and also accounts for the strange location of this third cartridge). He takes aim and pulls the trigger for the first shot. It hits the pavement and fragments strike the POTUS, leading to him saying "I'm hit".
Connelly turns around and as he does so Oswald fires number 2. It hits Kennedy in the back, exits his throat, and does its thing in Connelly; coming to rest in his thigh. (FMJ round that despite its "pristine" title, is actually far from such).
George Hickey is in the secret service car behind the Potus. He is riding in the back seat, with a "loaded and ready" AR15 sitting on the floor. He hears shot 1 and begins scanning the buildings. He spots Oswald, grabs the AR15, flicking off the safety, and stands up. (Shot 2 happens) The car he is in lurches as the motorcade begins to speed up, and as it does, Hickey loses his balance and begins to fall back. In so doing he pulls the trigger, and the President's head blows up.
The usual explanations follow to validate the theory, but among them are testimony from 7 Secret Service Agents in the car with Hickey that state he had the rifle out, and also that they could smell "gunpowder" (cordite). In fact, several civilian witnesses that were questioned and provided sworn statements to the Dallas PD said the very same things.
Then there is this picture:
(http://i475.photobucket.com/albums/rr111/hlovett_2008/jfk-hickey-with-rifle_zps958a6ebe.jpg) (http://s475.photobucket.com/user/hlovett_2008/media/jfk-hickey-with-rifle_zps958a6ebe.jpg.html)
That clearly shows Hickey holding the rifle up after the headshot, and as the motorcade continued to increase its speed.
Oswald shot from 6 floor up, with a 15mph wind in his face. People on the ground in the plaza would NOT have been able to have detected the smell of cordite at ground level. But even the mayor of Dallas, riding several cars behind the POTUS stated he could smell it.
Hickey's sworn statement said he did not have the rifle out until they were at the underpass. Yet, he was never called as a witness before the Warren Commission.
And there is a lot more, including the supposition that if this were indeed the case, and a SSA had indeed accidentally shot the POTUS in the head, then it would explain a lot of the suspicious actions and statements of the SS surrounding what they did, and what type of armaments they had been carrying, etc. Including the insistence upon removing the president's body without the mandatory autopsy that local law required, as well as the manner in which the autopsy was conducted at Bethesda.
There are also the statements from the medical personnel at Bethesda, that the round that exploded Kennedy's head had "disintegrated" into tiny fragments that were clearly seen within the head xrays they had done during autopsy. All of which were confiscated by the SS, as was all of the film containing the pictures, etc.
Oswald was using Full Metal Jacketed ammo, and that doesn't disintegrate upon impact.
Yes. It is a theory, and at face value one of those whacky ones at that. But think about it. If this is actually what happened, and it has been held as a state secret for 50 years, and will be held so for another 50 years, when the truth is known one day, how stupid are a lot of people going to feel? (Those of us alive when it actually happened will be fertilizer by then, so we'll be spared that at least).
And if you really think about it, it is just stupid enough to have actually been what happened! (Which means I have spent the last 50 years of my life running this damned event over in my mind and suspecting a myriad of entities of being the evil culprit that brought an end to Camelot, for NOTHING!)
I can see that!
And George Hickey is dead.
