T -14 days and counting. ;D
Maybe I should have said T -15 days until my big The Maya Were Wrong Party!
:beers:
Look at what these crazy people are doing all over the world.
" Ahead of December 21, which marks the conclusion of the 5,125-year "Long Count" Mayan calendar, panic buying of candles and essentials has been reported in China and Russia, along with an explosion in sales of survival shelters in America. In France believers were preparing to converge on a mountain where they believe aliens will rescue them.
The precise manner of Armageddon remains vague, ranging from a catastrophic celestial collision between Earth and the mythical planet Nibiru, also known as Planet X, a disastrous crash with a comet, or the annihilation of civilisation by a giant solar storm.
In America Ron Hubbard, a manufacturer of hi-tech underground survival shelters, has seen his business explode. "

To prove the point of how many crazy people there are in just America. Just go around the country, towns, cities and count the number of churches.
Also I believe that the number of churches in an area also correlates with the intelligence of the people in that state. The bible belt, the South has the highest number churches and also the lower intelligence level. Instead of thinking these people blame god for everything good or bad. There for the stupidity of these people. Don't worry, don't think because god will take care of you. :haha:
For anyone who believes the bible and it's dogma and fairy tales :tink: and that god is responsible for who dies, who lives, responsible for all weather and storms that happen and who starves and who gets fat. Who is crippled, who's not, who gets rich and who is poor and starving. Certainly has to have problems of clear sight and intelligence. Let us pray  :preach: :pope:
I agree with all of that Troll.
I think I pointed out somewhere around here that it's unbelievable, in this day and age, that 46% of adults in this country believe the Sky Daddy created humans (in their present form no less) sometime in the last 10,000 years. Simply unbelievable and scary. Yet we wonder why the Europeans laugh at us.
BTW, it's T-13 days now. :spooked:

You know it's funny; the Maya weren't smart enough to predict their own demise, yet some trust them in predicting the end of the world.

Umm, it seems a small sector of them were indeed smart enough to predict their demise. . . I just read it, let me see if I can find it:
. . .Just a few years before the rot set in, Maya painters at the site of Bonampak, a small city in Chiapas, Mexico, covered the walls of a small three-room palace with extraordinary murals.
They painted more individuals -- men, mainly, but women and children, too -- than had been rendered before, numbering more than 250. They deployed more fancy pigments than had been used before, more than would ever be used again in ancient Mexico, some 47 vibrant blues, reds and yellows. The paintings reveal the social layers of courtiers and lords, musicians and dwarves, victims and their blade-wielding sacrificers. Musicians, singers and performers lined up to perform on plazas and pyramids.
None of these activities or materials was new, but what was new was the rapidly crumbling world around the Bonampak painters.
No one could change -- the paintings seem to tell us. The Maya ignored the crisis in front of them, instead dancing with great panaches of precious quetzal feathers on pyramids, as if the present would forever hold. . . http://www.cnn.com/2012/12/07/opinion/miller-maya-apocalypse/index.html?hpt=hp_t3 (http://www.cnn.com/2012/12/07/opinion/miller-maya-apocalypse/index.html?hpt=hp_t3)
And while it is just an opinion piece, I'd like to see the research the author based that opinion upon. . .
Hey, I'm getting prepared, I am stocking up on Reese Cups and Diet Coke. I plan on eating and drinking my entire suppy on the 20th just in case those Myans were right. Then I will worry about my blood glucose level the next day! ;D

I figured if we make it to Christmas........we are going to have a much better New Year than the Mayans predicted. Just not trying to take TOO much for granted.

Well if it's calculated via the Maya time zone (Central time in the US) we have about 4 1/2 hours left. If it was supposed to be midnight Zulu (UTC), they're already wrong. ;D
Just because the calendar ended doesn't mean the end of the world. It was a union shop and everyone took a long break.
Happy end of the 13th b'ak'tun! :beers:
Are we still here? ;D

I have to say that I am impressed.......NOT ONE CRASH or car off the road, with MY trip to work.......it took me 90 minutes rather than 50 minutes...and it was pretty bad in places.....had a couple of white outs and his some black ice....but saw NO cars off the road....I would have bet money there would have been several. I took st rd 9 to greenfield and the took I70 to my place of work......
We have just about an inch of snow -- nothing major.
Glad your trip was without incident.

I.m really glad the world didn't end, I didn't get to the store for my Reese Cups. I got them this morning so I am going to eat them tonight. :) I really would have hated not having my Reese Cups.
