One of my BIL's started using a "lawn tonic" to revive his drought beaten lawn. Said he got the formula from the grounds keeper at a golf course and when he told me what it was it was exactly what a former colleague had recommended to me years ago. (His lawn was absolutely stunning and he told me that was what he used. He even wrote it down for me and I dug it up this morning. It is a match for what my BIL is using).
So here it is. (Note: You need a 10 gallon hose end sprayer to apply it).
1 - 12 oz can of pop. (NOT diet)
1 - 12 oz can of beer (NOT lite beer)
1/2 cup of liquid dishwashing soap (NOT anti bacterial)
1/2 cup of mouthwash
1/2 cup of ammonia
Pour all of this into the solution cup of the 10 gallon sprayer, hook it up to a hose, turn on the water, and apply every three weeks. . .
And for giggles I searched the internet this morning and found it as well as variations of it, is indeed out there. . .
There used to be a guy called "Treeboy" on channel 13 everyday who did house hould and lawn tips.....he did this experiment with that recipe and did one part of the yard with it and the other with out it.....and it made a world of difference. I never have tried it, but want to sometime.
You guys are kidding me right? You really combine all of that for an effective lawn treatment?

Yup. I now know two guys who have used this exact formula and their lawns are awesome. (I've seen them first hand).
Just finished applying it to the front lawn portion of my yard to see how it does there. If it does for mine what it has done for the two I know that use it, I'll be going out to buy a case or two of inexpensive domestic beer, generic mouthwash, and generic pop, simply for this treatment.
My BIL used it and he has been cutting grass all summer long. And he never waters his grass except to apply this exact formula. Neither one of them uses a lawn service either, and the only chemicals they use are the fertilizer and weed killer they apply using the same 10 gallon hose sprayer.
I had three coors beers in my fridge that someone left there the 4th of July. I bought the sprayer at Menards for 7 bucks. I got a gallon of ammonia, mouthwash, and dish soap for a buck each at the dollar store. I used 3 Cokes that I also had int he fridge.
I set the sprayer setting to 2 oz and used a wide spray pattern.
I also took pictures so we shall see. If it works I'll post the before and after.
I'll have to tell my husband about this. So many of the chemicals make his allergies act up.
Here's a before picture of an area that I applied this tonic to today. I will wait until I make a second application to post the after picture.
As you can clearly see, it is an area that has been ravaged by drought.
