Police K-9 shot, bank robbery suspect in custody

ANDERSON -
Anderson police have captured the lone suspect from a bank robbery Saturday morning.

Just after 9:30 the PNC bank in the 2900 block of Nichol Avenue. The suspect took off on a bike.

An Anderson K-9 officer caught up with the suspect and turned Magnum, the officer's K-9, loose. The suspect shot the police dog and ran into a wooded area. The suspect was captured by Madison County SWAT officers several hours later.

Magnum was taken to an area animal hospital and is in surgery. Officers remain on scene searching for the weapon. The suspects name has not yet been released.

Another K9 shot over some scumbag's idiocy. . .

Hopefully the dog will make it.  Although it may not return to service even if it does.
