Are you watching opening night? What do you think?

Does anyone else find it humorous that Ireland's best event is boxing.

I'm watching it. I like this one better than the last one. I like the parade of athletes the best.

The torch lighting ceremony sucked big time compared to previous years.

My favorite opening ceremony so far is still Bejing, but I did enjoy this one. For me, Bejing was breathtaking and London was just entertaining.

I always enjoy the "story" behind the performance, the flashes to the famous people who are there and the parade of athletes. That's always so interesting and inspiring. Of course I want USA to dominate, but it would be SO cool if one of the smaller countries walked away with a gold in something.

I just don't know how badminton got to be an olympic sport. If it is then I think ultimate  frisbee should be too.

I can't believe ping pong is an olympic sport and baseball isn't on the list anymore.

A wily ole' Russian put a move on the Columbian and won the men's bike race.  It was a slick move.  It caught the Columbian completely by surprise and left him in second watching the Russian's backside moving away from him to the finish.  Great one for the old guy!

Have not watched a single minute of them thus far. . . And do not intend to.

I have a real job. . .

What does having a "real job" have to do with watching the Olympics?

She was great to watch, she seemed so happy and having so much fun. The other young women were fun to watch, too, but they didn't seem to be having as much fun has Gabby. I enjoyed Missy (?) on the swimming team also.

She really is an amazing competitor....with a ton of class.  She totally screwed up her routine last night, that cost her the Gold and ended up in fourth place.  She was attempting an extremely difficult task, and it did not turn out....but, she was nothing but smiles and hugged all of the winners, and took it with much grace.  Only 17 years old, and with that attitude, she will be back and will own a few more Gold medals before she retires.

Yes, she displayed great sportsmanship last night. There have been athletes from several different countries who have displayed great attitudes and sportsmanship so far during the games this time.

What?  NO SPOILER ALERT!!!  :spooked:
;D

This is the bad part of the Olympics being over seas.....we get the news, before it happens.

I have enjoyed the Girls Gymnastics this time.  Never watched it much before.  The swimming has been great, along with the Volleyball.

All U.S. Women's Beach Volleyball event this afternoon at 4:00 PM Eastern.  Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh-Jennings vs. Jenn Kessy and April Ross.  I'm hoping to find it somewhere on live TV at that time and not have to wait until the tape delay by which time news will have spoiled it.

Maybe things can get back to normal next week then. . .

(I'm a staunch fan of the winter games).

Outside of a very few events, I too favor the winter games over the summer ones.

I enjoy events from both winter and summer.  I really like the way they have them stagered every two years, we have an Olympics to watch.

Yep!  The two year staggering was one of the best decisions ever made by the IOC.

Remember the old Ester Williams (?) movies, they had a lot of that in them. Maybe you are too young to remember them.

Anybody want a spoiler on the women's beach volleyball gold medal match?     ;D

I just streamed it live on the Internet.  The USA got gold and silver obviously, but who beat whom?
