There would be in most cases, however in this case we are talking about minor children who related the information only a few years ago, and the investigating officer, (his brother), failed to follow protocol and did not inform the prosecutors on the case back then, but buried it.
The victim(s) then sought out state police who DID investigate the crime(s) and provided their report(s) to the prosecutors office.
Molestation of minor children often only comes to light as the individuals become adults, and in some cases the crimes are illegally hidden until the victims become adults and choose to pursue the issue themselves, as in the current case with Sandusky.
It one hell of a crime to be charge with, you're automatically guilty. Just like a male school teacher charge with molesting 3 girls. Come to find out the girls came up with this idea to get even. He was in jail, in all of the news papers and on TV.
After it was all said and done, no apology and hardly anything in the news about this false charge. Too quick to convict. :police:

I agree. It takes nothing to paint anyone with that brush and it can destroy their life.
I know because a poster on the now non-existent Herald Bulletin forum made that false and libelous allegation against me on that forum. It was a poster many here even knew, Witchy, who was Janelle Kerr.
Fortunately, it was easily proved a lie and one of the reasons Janelle left the state was to avoid the legal ramifications of her actions, but that is an example of just how easy it is to start that crap against an innocent person someone doesn't like.
Another poster on that old HB forum accused me and some others of threatening her adult son. It was Cookie Parker, who was Rebecca Lane, a lot of people here knew her too. She even went so far as to claim she called the Anderson police on us about that non-existent threat.
So you see, all it takes is some crazy hateful person to try and assassinate someone's character and then the innocent are off and running trying to salvage their reputation. Of course the proof of their innocence is NEVER broadcast as far or as loud as the false allegations.

I suspect you don't know how a grand jury works. Grand juries are usually what prosecutors use when they haven't enough evidence, or credible evidence, to indict in front of a judge. With a grand jury, all the prosecutor has to do is to convince the rubes making up the grand jury that whomever the prosecutor is after should be indicted for trial. The evidence is far secondary to the prosecutor's ability to persuade. As far as the idea that there must be something to the case because the grand jury indicted, well that's not an idea worth the effort it takes to entertain it.

The bolded part is what makes this one look suspicious. Why would they have made his brother the investigating officer in the first place?
