Speaking of entitlement attitudes (I'm sure someone was) y'all need to take a look at this story:

Briefly, 2 years ago, some women from Corydon were attending the Frog Follies at the Vandy Co. 4-H Center. This is a huge street rod show, held every year by Evansville Iron, drawing thousands of entrants, and tens of thousands of visitors. All proceeds go to charity, and all concessions as well as parking and clean-up are provided by local clubs and high schools to fund their own projects.
So, this woman and a couple of her friends were riding in the bed of a 1929 Model A truck on the grounds. Another friend was driving. The driver suddenly accelerated and the three women in back went flying. Two of them were fine, one needed treatment.
She is suing E'ville Iron, because she claims the 22 minute response time for the ambulance to reach her caused permanent injury.
So why is E'ville Iron at fault? She chose to ride in the truck bed. Her friend drove unwisely. The property was deliberately placed ten miles out of town. The ambulance driver didn't press hard enough on the accelerator. What did E'ville Iron do, that makes them culpable when the rest of these folks are blameless?
I can totally see her reasoning. The club assumed she had enough intelligence to safely seat herself. Why do you think they enacted a law that prohibits the sale of those old lawn mowers that allowed the operator to stick their hands underneath the deck, into the path of moving razor sharp blades, while the motor was running? It is because humans need laws like that to keep the stupid ones safe. Humans do not like the laws of nature, especially the one where the smart survive and the dumb don't.
The underlying problem with protecting the stupid is that they are allowed to propagate, most likely with other stupid people, and the lineage gets even stupider. It is a well accepted fact that stupid people have lots of stupid kids, likely because they haven't figured out what causes pregnancy or how to apply any method of birth control. A hundred years ago, if you were stupid, chances were you didn't live too long. There were no government entitlement programs to feed and house stupid people. In fact, if someone was extremely stupid, they were sterilized so they couldn't breed and produce stupid children. Now stupid people can get SS disability and get all kinds of handouts at the expense of the not-so-stupid people. Stupid people now breed like rabbits and, instead of being punished for their stupidity, reap even more rewards for their stupid children.
Eventho it is the Twenty First Century and with all of our technology, we can build products foolproof. But we will never be able to make products idiot proof.
