This young man gave his life to secure our freedom, and I am honored to know his family. You may have seen his grandfather in the media, and he was interviewed by most of the major networks; and he is my neighbor. (Some of you may recall me referring to him as the kind elderly neighbor elsewhere on this forum).

I just finished a long visit with Norman a little bit ago, and if his grandson was anything like him, (And I am sure he was), the world has lost a true treasure with this young man's sacrifice.

My deepest condolences to the family, and great thanks for their sacrifices on behalf of our country. We owe them a great debt that can never be repaid. . .  :'(

Indeed! He was twenty days from coming home too. (Not the month reported in the media). Tragic to say the least. And while I hate funerals, military funerals really tear me up. . . Always have. "Taps" and I lose it every time. . . :'(

There is a video on the linked page above. In the video Sgt Karch's grandfather, Norman, is interviewed. Norman is my neighbor.

Thanks for the information Palehorse. It saddens me as well to see the good die so young.

Thank you LS, and welcome aboard!

I wonder how many more families will have to endure the ultimate sacrifice ?
