I put these "before & after" photos together for visitors & thought I'd share it with you all.
If you get a chance, here's what my husband did with a little (well, a lot of) paint!

It looks great Sunny. I really like the more neutral color.
Thanks, MsMojo! We (ha ha) -- he still has a lot of work left to do...but, it's certainly an excellant start. It's hard to believe that people never updated our house. :-\
Wow Sunny! Y'all have been busy!! Looks great!
Wow Sunny, I love what you've done with those (ceiling) beams! I would have never thought to paint them white!
Wonderful pictures Sunny...........Home Sweet Home.........Perfect!
Thanks for looking, guys!!! I'd love to have Gryphon over to help when demo time arrives! LOL! First on the list is the kitchen, then the main-floor bath. We have so many plans & dreams for the house.
The kitchen will ultimately be opened up with two walls taken out...husband wants to build an island & a breakfast bar/counter with additional cabinet space below. The floor will become slate/tile with a coordinating backsplash. We haven't decided on the countertops -- not sure if we'll do granite or a solid Corian.
The bathroom upstairs will definitely have a wall removed to make more space & two pedastal sinks installed with 2 medicine cabinets.
I agree, Daisy...the beams being painted white in the family room makes them sorta 'blend'. Of course they will come down when we get to renovating that room. We haven't decided what type of flooring we want to do downstairs, so for now it'll stay just painted. DH also wants to take down the panelling & dry wall when the time comes.
I hope to find a good picture of a "stone" fireplace & I'm gonna try to paint the rocks to make them look more natural, including the grout lines. But, the new wall color even makes the fireplace look a little better. IMO.
Thanks again for your kind comments.
A teeny update to my youngest's room.
Found these sweet Winnie the Pooh cafe curtains for $.69 at a thrift shop the other day.
Woohoo!

Those are sweet Sunny. When Lil' Mojo was a baby the theme for her crib, etc. was winnie the Pooh. Although in my case it was more for mama than child because she couldn't have cared less. He was a fav when I was little and I even picked up a nickname from that which I carried until I moved around the time I was 15. Anyway TMI
The curtains are cute.
That's good to know for bribe, er..uh...I mean, thanks for sharing!
I was mostly excited by the bargain, because I never could've made them myself for that!
Looks like we have something else in common, Winnie Mojo.
Small world Pooh...I mean Sunny
Oh, paint is a wonder! It's forgiving, too--much unlike wallpaper
I've convinced Mr. Tallulah to let me paint some furniture to give it a bit of an update. Sure is cheaper than buying new stuff, I'll tell ya!
Great job, Sunny!
I wish I could take the credit for the work done on our house, but I must give that to Mr. Sunny. He spent over 10 days removing wallpaper & painting every room + woodwork.
Thanks for looking, Tallulah! And it's wonderful to 'see' you...life must be keeping you busy these days.
My daughters room:
Paint
markers
stencils
It looks like a huge doll house!
