Federal court order the dad of a marine killed Iraq to pay the court cost of the crazy Christains who picketed his son's funeral. Your thoughts.
That is just wrong on soooo many levels and I think the judge that reversed that decision should be disbarred.
Absolutely not. These people disrupted a funeral and caused the family pain and made their suffering worse. They should be paying for the next thirty years, imo. I don't care whose funeral it was, they did a terrible thing.
They'll picket anyone to spread their message of hate religion:

I mean, good grief!, miners and mennonites?!? I thought that there was an article about the time that Westboro picketed the Sago funeral where a few hundred WVians turned on them...violently IIRC...but I can't find it. Maybe I dreamed it.
I despise their message, but it's protected under the 1st Amendment. I'm wondering if this could be a case where the constitutional rights of one infringes on the constitutional rights of another. How is that decision made?
Sandy Eggo, you sure hit the nail on the head. It's all about the Constitution. For without the Constitution we would just be another enslaved nation. Without the Constitution we wouldn't have the freedom to worship, freedom to bear arms, the freedom of speech and many more freedoms our Armed Forces have protected for us in their blood and sacrifice of the time in service of The United States of America. Thank you so much for your wisdom.
The Troll :) :) :)
Doesn't free speech end when it impinges on the rights of others or harms others. You can't yell fire in a crowded room, it will get you in trouble every time.
i just found an interesting tidbit, that I find very amusing..........Fred Phelps of the Westboro Baptist, the scumbucket piece of trash happens to be a devout democrat and has run in various Kansas Democratic Party primaries five times, but has never won....including races for governor in 1990, 1994, and 1998, receiving about 15 percent of the vote in 1998. In the 1992 Democratic Party primary for U.S. Senate, Phelps received 31 percent of the vote....Phelps ran for mayor of Topeka in 1993 and 1997.... ;D
I know, I haven't had any coffee yet this morning, and maybe it is not really THAT funny...but it made me giggle anyway... ;D
that guy really, really SUCKS!!!

Yes, he did and I thought that quite admirable.

They really need to be stopped.
Wonder how they'd feel about protestors showing up at their weekly prayer services and Sunday worship, with signs damning them to hell, calling them child molesters, and spewing accusations of zealotry? :icon_twisted:
I'm in. When do we leave?

1. They're not Christians. They're the Westboro Baptist Church that spouts nothing but hatred and intolerance. If that is truly what you think Christians are, you need to get out more.
2. Provide a link to the case and then I'll throw my $0.02 at whether or not the dad should cough up.
From a right/wrong perspective, of course he shouldn't. From a legal/illegal perspective, well, you'll have to provide more info like I said.

Actually, I'd be in for that, too. Try to entice one or more of them to smack you around so you can sue the crap out of them and make a bunch of money. That's been their m.o.
Goose. Gander. Do the math.

Probably a lot of anxiety and it would grow into a fever pitch, whipped up by the big cheese Phelps. They may even get violent.
We could only hope.
