Title: NBC - Comcraptic!
Post by: Palehorse on December 03, 2009, 01:03:18 PM
Well, as if Comcast hasn't already imposed a large enough negative influence upon my life, now they are buying controlling interest in NBC as well. . .

The bastards will be charging even more for the crappy services, heavy handed fee scheduling, and probably impose a new "fee" to get NBC in the coming months!

Cheaper and better tech support with Dish Network than Comcast.  We don't have the locals, never watched them anyway, and we don't have the movie channels either 'cause they're too repetitive and we prefer to get the DVD's.  We do have Sirrus(sp) with it though......

I love my boxing though and would have to have HBO and Showtime. . .

My problem is the house was pre-wired for cable. I have broadband and would be keeping that since it is a service supplied by my wife's employer. (That's the real rub, how do we keep broadband and switch to dish without fritzing up the works?) I also do NOT want a bunch of black cable running around on the outside of the home. . . It's why I had it prewired in the first place. . .

I have comcast basic cable for the broadband service...I have DISH - HD, with a DVR and two receivers and I "can" get anything you want as far as HBO, pay per view..just about anything...

I was able to get basic cable for 24.95 a month....(broadband included)....and my Dish is about 60 bucks a month...but you can get their TOP package for under $100...

and I the CAN use your existing cabling...because that is what they did at my place...

Which provider do you have for dish? (If you don't mind saying). I've heard good things and bad. . .

It's a topic for budget discussions that are upcoming and to tell you the truth the only thing stopping me is the broadband thing. . . I've had colleagues who switched and had nightmares trying to get the broadband to work again once the switch was made. . .And now would not be a very good time for that crap to transpire for me personally. . .

My BIL has Dish Network too and he seems to like it very well. I'll just have to run the numbers and see what that tells me. . .

Same wire.    As for the BB I have no clue. Even with the HBO it's cheaper we just wouldn't watch it so we got FSMW which, it turns out, is not FSMWI but we still get some of the Pacer games.  We still don't understand why they would give someone in Indiana FSMWArizona.....Makes no sense to me.  When the Pacer games are carried they are on an alternate sports channel.

I suppose it would just be a matter of identifying the bbnd feed and hooking that directly to the in house feed to the office, instead of to the main feed box. . . (broadband) then just placing the dish feed into the main feed box. If we switch I am going to ask up front though.

We have 5 TV's and want to go to a 6th at some point. That means 3 HD boxes and having to pay for 2 of them, plus rental charges from what I can see thus far.

I am also hearing a lot of good stuff about ATT UVerse locally, but my daughter has it out in Houston and hates it with a passion. . .

My granddaughter is with another dish provider, can't remember the name, and I forgot to ask her how they liked it when they were here Thanksgiving.

$123.00 / month for direct tv including HBO and Showtime, plus HD+ package. (After promos run out - 83/mo first 3 months) 2 HD receivers and 4 standard.

$145.00/month for comcrap w/HBO/Showtime/TMC/Starz, and very few HD channels despite having HD service and paying for it. And a reduced number of channels for each premium service). 1 HD receiver and 3 standard

Both provide DVR .

Digital channel lineups are no comparison! Comcrap has far fewer!

I think Dish Network is cheaper for more.
