Title: Show Me The Money!
Post by: C91 on December 07, 2006, 07:43:24 PM
So there was a casting call for Show Me The Money (http://abc.go.com/primetime/showmethemoney/index.html) tonight in Tampa.  I thought it would be interesting to check it out and see what the process is.  So, I got there a little after 4 pm.  I was the 63rd person in line.

After filling out a questionnaire, a group of people was taken into a room where a test was administered.  It consisted of approximately 50 general knowledge questions.  We were given 20 minutes to complete the test.  I felt pretty good about how I did on the test.  I knew there were at least 5 or 6 that stumped me, but I was able to fill in all of the blanks.  I noticed some of my table mates had empty slots on many of their answer sheets.

After the test, we were taken to another room for group interviews.  Eight of us stood around a table where the interviewer asked us some basic questions.  He asked about our jobs, what we would do with a million dollars, favorite television programs, etc.

At the end of the interview, the coordinator told four of the people at our table to stay behind.  I was one of those people.  After the other four left, he told us that we were invited to a callback tomorrow.

As I left the room, he told me that he couldn't tell me my score, but it was the highest of the night so far.  I'm so fired up about this!  I could be on the same stage with William Shatner!  Denny Crane!

Send some positive vibes me way tomorrow at around 3 p.m.

Okay, I've got 4:40 (or thereabouts) wonder if he is any closer to knowing if there's going to be any showing of the money??

I'll probably know in a couple of days.  I wasn't very happy with the on camera interview, but they did tell me that I had the highest test score of the Tampa casting call.

We'll see...

What happened with the on camera interview?

The interviewer asked me to tell the producers why I should be on the show and I just stammered through that answer.  I wasn't prepared for it, believe it or not.

Then he backed up the camera and said I have to show off my "million dollar dance".  I have no rhythm and certainly didn't have anything close to being rehearsed for that.

Did they tell you what they were going to do?  I guess since you weren't prepared, they sprung it on you cold.  Hopefully it'll work out.

I've been wondering about it myself

I haven't heard back from them, so I'm assuming I didn't make the cut.  While it would have been nice to be on the show, it was an interesting experience and will prepare me for the next time I see a casting call posted for this area.

Perhaps this may have something to do with my phone not ringing.

AP:  'Day Break,' Shatner game show fail
(http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061217/ENTERTAINMENT05/612170426/1005/ENTERTAINMENT)

'ABC has turned off the lights for "Day Break" and "Show Me the Money," two low-rated series airing back-to-back on Wednesdays.'

What is interesting is that on the agreement I signed, there was provision that said if the show was canceled before a taped episode airs, the producers were under no obligation to award any prizes won during that episode.  I wonder if anyone got caught in that situation.  That would be suck.
