Title: Changes coming to the bar scene
Post by: Da Wham on April 19, 2009, 01:11:02 PM
Word on the street is that John Neal is taking back control of his bars and has been telling the people running them they have a week or so to make their back payments in full or get out.

That ain't even right.     I should think he should have to go through the system to be able to do anything like that.

Rodney   , the former prosecutor may be the one that's really at fault here. IIRC, he intimated to the people running them that Neal wasn't ever going to get back control of those bars. From there it seems those people apparently figured they could put the money in their pocket. In hindsight that doesn't look like a very good business plan.

Not really but that still isn't Rodney Cummings fault.  The ultimate decision was theirs not to pay, if in fact they didn't, but that don't make it anymore right for him to come back and demand his money like that. What would he gain by running them off besides the building and putting even more people out of work anyway?  I would think he could talk to them and reach some kind of agreement so no one loses rather than just be an ass about it.

If you recall it was Rodney in cahoots with the state and local gambling interests that created that entire mess so they could put in the casino. There was no reason to go about it the way they did, and they put a lot of people out of work and ruined other's businesses.

If you noticed, I wasn't letting the contract holders of those bars off the hook. Their business plan......cough, cough......should have included putting their payments into escrow. They should have been smart enough to figure out they were going to have to pay someone somewhere down the road.

If they didn't that isn't Cumming's fault they have no one to blame but themselves.  Why wasn't the family collecting?  I assume he has family and most generally a contract has an "as assignee" clause so he could have fixed it so his family could collect in his behalf.

It's still Rodney's fault for putting the wheels in motion for the legal gangsters. You can't wash his hands of that.

Ah, come on, you don't really think politics had anything to do with that do you?  I mean just because it happened around election time and stuff like that was just a coincidence wasn't it?....
