Title: what do you think will happen concerning the old orphanage?
Post by: Dutchess2 on March 15, 2009, 11:45:39 AM
Prolo, well, let me ask you this.  what do you think will happen concerning the old orphanage?  it would be nice if they could set up some sort of archives, maybe at the historical society. it seems that many of those who were there are getting on in age and their experiences and memories should be documented for historical purposes.  maybe videos of interviews, etc.

The old orphanage in Logansport is a very important part of Logansport's heritage. How many cities in our state, or any other state for that matter, can claim a very long history of taking care of children who were placed in such dire straits as the children who lived in that structure.

I guess there's two things that can do with that building. Tear it down and lose all memories of the exceptional memories lodged within its walls (they did that with the old Penn Central Railroad Station and have regretted it ever since), or they can maintain the building that eventually would be used for some positive expereince in our community.

I think all the time of the Intiquitty Inn which was an old structure that has been put to very good use by some very dedicated people. The old Orphanage has a lot more room, is in decent condition structurally and doesn't need to be torn down for whatever reason.

i hope they can save it. or have some semblance of historical documentation of it.
