Title: GM plan slashes more jobs

Maybe I am naive on this, but how can GM possibly be asking for $30 billion more bailout while their plan includes cutting 47,000 jobs globally (26,000 USA) and shuttering more plants.  Isn't the whole idea to save and create jobs.  How could our braintrust in DC support this?  It goes against everything they have been claiming the spendulous bill is for.  Don't they have to tell GM and the other automakers to find a way to recover without cutting jobs and closing plants.  Giving them money (call it a loan if you are a moron) would be total BS if their plans include cutting American jobs and closing American factories.  The concept of sacrificing the few to save the many doesn't fly anymore.

the automobile industry survives, on production. at the present time production is redundant. plant changeovers are kind of hard when you are still in a mode that creates your problem!

RUEFULLY! LAYOFFS OR JOBS BANKS ARE THE ONLY OPTIONS. LAYOFFS ARE A SHORT TIME(on avg) fix UNTIL A LEVELING OUT PERIOD CAN BE FOUND. OTHERWISE YOU SHALL OVER PRODUCE YOUR PRODUCT INTO A FINANCIAL LOSS. THE POSITIVE, SHOULD BE 'NO LOST JOBS'. THOSE LAIDOFF SHOULD BE CALLED BACK TO RE-GEAR THE OPERATION. BEFORE ANY NEW HIRES ENTER.

ALL MUST GIVE SOMETHING TO GAIN SOMETHING. COMES INTO APPLICATION HERE.

ANYONE CAN FIND A NEGATIVE ANYWHERE ANYONE WISHES.

CHANGE IS NOT EASY AND CHANGE SHALL HAVE A PRICE FOR ALL THAT ARE NOT INDEPENDENTLY WEALTHY!

AMAZING HOW MOST WANT TO BE PART OF THE PROBLEM AND NOT THE CURE!

I WOULD MUCH RATHER SEE A SLOW CHANGE FOR THE BETTER. RATHER THAN A RAPID STOP TO THE FUTURE!

AND YES I HAVE GIVEN SOMETHING--25yr GM EMPLOYEE(salaried)--job disbanded--farmed out to DRA-5YRS(NO TENURE). PARTIAL RETIREMENT AND LIMITED BENEFITS. ONE(1)PENSION CHECK PAYS THE INSURANCE PLAN FROM THE OTHER CONCERN. MY WIFE WAS DROPPED ALL TOGETHER FROM GM/DRA PACKAGE BECAUSE OF DISABILITY BENFITS. SHE WORKED 25+YRS IN THE MEDICAL FIELD!

THE BENEFIT PACKAGE WAS ALL WE WERE LOOKING FOR AFTER RETIREMENT. JUST WHAT WE WERE PROMISED AND GAVE OUR YOUTH AND HEALTH AND FAMILY TIME FOR. WE RETIRED AND OUR FUTURE BECAME WHAT WE HAD SAVED FOR SURVIVAL AND RETIREMENT + THE COST OF WHAT WE WERE PROMISED UPON HIRING IN!

THE SALARIED EMPLOYEES ALWAYS PAY FIRST. ALL WE GOT WAS A HANDSHAKE. NO CONTRACT PROTECTION! SO WE HAVE BEEN ADJUSTING TO THIS SYSTEM FOR 10YRS. AND NO IT IS NOT EASY!
