Can you believe this crap?
The "economic stimulus" plan being pushed by House speaker Nancy Pelosi contains "hundreds of millions of dollars" for family planning services. When asked about this part of the bill, Pelosi insisted that "family planning services reduce cost" and "we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy."
Say what?
Family planning services reduce cost?
We can fix our economy by reducing the number of babies being born?
Talk about a "eugenics" agenda.....
And of course the majority of the "family planning" funding will go to poor areas, because we can't have poor people making babies, now can we?
Pelosi should be ashamed of her remarks, but of course she is not.
The following exchange between Pelosi and George Stephanopoulos came on Sunday morning during ABC's THIS WEEK:
STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?
PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?
PELOSI: No apologies. No. We have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.

Well I don't know. I makes some sense to me in a way. When people are not working, they get bored. When they get bored, they find things to occupy their time. Sex is one of those things. When we had our Blizzard of 2001 and people were shut up in their homes for 5 days, they had some sex. There was an article in the N&O 9 months later about all the births that coincided with the snow. That was just 5 days away from work. People that are laid off indefinitely, that is a long time!!!
Not only that, but education and birth control resources are vital to reducing unwanted pregnancy.
Has the potential to reduce the number of parents and unwanted children that our tax dollars support in one way or the other.
Either support it now or support them later.

Thats all well and good but when does it end. This is supposed to be a stimulus package to create jobs not give hand outs.
Based on your expectations, I'm surprised Bush pleased you so easily.
Well, I will have to admit I approve of something Obama has done...He made the dems take this out of the stimulus package.....
It doesn't matter, I suspect that overall, he could walk on water and he still wouldn't meet the approval you gave Bush.

And you will continue to blame Bush for everything wrong even if you're smacked up side the head with facts.

Let us know when those 'facts' materialize.
As if hating everything Obama does is justified by your love of Bush.

Why do you always have to bring Bush into the conversation? You seem to be obsessed or something and obsessions are not a healthy thing.
Neither are unwanted babies!!

That doesn't change the fact that this don't belong in the stimulus package.
Neither do unwanted babies.

It has nothing to do with obession and everything to do with the amount of latitude you'd give the dunce and not our new leader who hasn't officially been in his office for a week. You seem ready to pounce on and critisize every move he makes. Why is that?
Perhaps planned parenthood could have prevented the past 8 years. ;D

I don't believe I've "pounced" on anything but that democrapic congress. I think I'm a little more open minded than that and I don't believe all the right wing loonys like you seem to take all the left wing loony stuff for gospel.

No? Then I guess your many anti anything democrat posts had me fooled. I'll take a look around to find some of your posts where you've critisized the Republicans. Thanks for pointing that out.
As for me taking anything for gospel...I take very little for "gospel", I'm just contrary.

Sandy Mojo Eggo Ego is right. It is best to provide poor people with birth control so they won't make more people like themselves, or worse. We can't expect poor people to suddenly become responsible and only breed when they can take care or the little future criminals they too often give birth to. Everybody knows they fcuk like little zoo monkeys. The social pathologies of the parents are magnified in the little ones. Much better they are never conceived - or born.
Some think the dip in crime is due to Roe vs. Wade. Probably. Their spawn have a high crime rate and high rate of need for public assistance because they do not prepare themselves through education to assume the adult roles of employee or parent. Homies in the hood don't work much or pay many taxes. Better they should never be, or killed early before it is a crime.
Nancy Pelosi is straight out of the land of fruits and nuts what does that tell you? She's a joke.
Fruits and nuts? I'm not going to defend Pelosi, but I love living in California and it's not as "left" as everyone thinks it is. Well, not here in SoCal anyway.

it tells me that if she bothers you, she must be doing her job, and doing it well.
I have an article an it seems that this is not being portrayed like it is....
But there is a link to an interview which tells it in her own words at the beginning of this thread.
If you are not taking any flack, then you are not over the target.
I'm not sure which target Pelosi thinks she is over but it ain't the right one. The stimulus package is a joke. I thought the Obama was going to bring hope and change. I don't think the repubs are so self-centered that they would ALL vote no if there was some merit to the package. It doesn't get any more bipartisan than that.
How can you blame Obama for the lack of change when he hasn't yet had the opportunity to accept or veto it?

Is this kindergarten?
Okay then, I'm rubber and you're glue...
Granted majority rules and the Dems won so they get to do whatever they want apparently.....I just don't see how this can be so totally bipartisan that not a single repub or dem would vote the other way. Clearly it is all about politics same as usual rather than an open-minded debate and consensus on what is truly best for the country right now.
Are they all already so concerned about their reelections that they are setting up for of the...."see I told you so campaigns". That will be the line regardless if this works or not.
Add that to the appointing of lobbyists (do as I say not as I do), tax evaders (do as I say not as I do), and the pushing of a bill full of pork......does not seem like much change to me.
I agree that it is too early to say change won't happen, but imo we're not off to a very good start.
