Title: Returning to the "Media Elite"
Post by: C91 on January 01, 2009, 11:30:15 PM
After a couple of months out of the work force, I am embarking on a new journey next week.  Actually, it takes me back to my roots.

I have been hired as a reporter for a new radio station in Northwest Indiana.  So, what does this mean?

It means that I'm taking a job that pays more than $40,000 per year less than my previous one.

It means that I'm taking a job that provides NO HEALTH BENEFITS and NO RETIREMENT SAVINGS.

It means that I'll be getting to work at 3 in the morning.

It means that I'll be working holidays and have NO PAID VACATION.

It means that I'll probably have to take a second job and live frugally.

And I couldn't be more excited about it.  Because after five years of being stuck in a boring desk job in a corporate meat grinder, I'll be back doing something I truly enjoy.  Yeah, I'll be eating a lot of bologna sandwiches and macaroni & cheese, but I've been there before.

(But it sure puts an interesting spin on the term "Media Elite".)

Its great to hear from you again.  Glad you landed a job that, from the the way you talk, you will enjoy.  Great way to start the new year.

Congratulations!!!! It might not be exactly the job you wanted but, you should be thrilled to death to be able to get a job at all. Unemployment is sooooo bad right now. I don't know how long I will have my job. It's scary because, I don't have a lot of education or job skills. Thank God Hubby makes very good money. If I lose my job it won't really affect us much but, I like to work so, I would like to keep my job.... even if it is a  crappy job. I'm soooo glad to hear you found something.  :sofa:

Hey C91

Do what you love to do. Might not be the thing that makes you wealthy, but it will be the thing that makes you happy.

Keep on keepin' on.
