Title: The cult of BlackBerry
Post by: C91 on December 29, 2008, 01:23:22 PM
My name is C91 and I am a BlackBerry addict.  It took all of 6 hours for this new device to lure me in.

I went to my local Sprint store over the weekend to get a new phone since I was eligible.  I knew I wanted something with a little more functionality than my Razr this time around.  I had compared the BlackBerry Curve and the Samsung Instinct and ultimately settled on the Curve.

I upgraded my data plan and before I knew it I was hooked.  That first afternoon I surfed the internet, I played on Yahoo messenger, I watched episodes of The Office and The Three Stooges.  I checked my e-mail, I changed my Facebook and MySpace status.  I found myself on the GPS.  I sent a picture to my brother.  Oh, and I talked to a few people on the phone too.

I've become one of those zombies walking around looking down into their palm -- waiting for the red light to flash so they can read the next message.  But once I get the thumb typing mastered, there will be no hope.

I fear I may be joining you very soon. I have become very disillusioned with my razr, and my wife and I both want a new phone in March when our eligibility kicks in.

I've been considering some of the very same models and to tell you the truth, the only thing holding me back at this time is fear of the extra money it is going to cost me to go to a data plan. . .  :spooked:

I've already become addicted to dvr; now refusing to watch programs when they are scheduled and instead recording them and watching them at my whim.

I figure crackberry is the next step in my dive into the cult!

I had a crackberry and dumped it for the iPhone.  I'm now Apple to the core.  ;D

Just so long as you aren't rotten to the core!

If I wouldn't have to change from Sprint to do the I Phone I might consider it myself. Hummmm. . . . Wait a minute. . . I'd still have to wait until March wouldn't I. . .

All of my family and close friends are on Sprint, so I really didn't want to switch carriers in order to get an iPhone since all my calls to those people are free.  (Plus those iPhone people tend to be even bigger zombies than the BlackBerry addicts.)

As far as the extra cost, Sprint advertises the 99.99 Unlimited Everything plan, but they have a couple of lower tier plans that include unlimited data and limited anytime minutes.  I've never come close to using my allotted 450 anytime minutes per month, so I upgraded to the Everything Data 450 plan for 69.99.  It only ends up costing me about 20 bucks more than I was paying per month.

If you make a lot of calls to people on the Sprint network, you may not want to switch carriers.

I want my next cell to be an iPhone.

Although I have a data package on the phone that I have now and I can do all of the things that make it addicting. It's awesome to have when you have time to kill. I haven't picked up a magazine in an office in years. ;D
