Title: Our new "home" (The Zone v2.0)
Post by: Magistrate on September 20, 2006, 10:08:01 AM
I had posted the following in the "Unknown Zone". Much of it applies to our new "home", so I thought I would share it here also (with a little editing to update it to this new community).

The Zone v2.0
I consider online forums as different "communities". So with that in mind, they will be whatever the residents of that community make of it!

Some are small, some are large, some are growing, some are dying, some have little to offer, and some have great diversity!

Diversity of the people, character, interests, desires, passions, beliefs, philosophies, likes, dislikes, gender, geography, etc. etc. etc.

It all depends on which street you go down, as to what you may find in each "community".

Depending on the ?community?, or the ?street? in that ?community?, you can find good people, bad people, nice people, grumpy people, smart people, not so smart people, stupid people, not so stupid people, funny people, serious people, generous people, stingy people, kind people, hateful people, happy people, sad people, mad people, friendly people, etc. etc. etc.

Just like in a real "community", each forum has a unique flare that makes it special and feels like ?home? to some, but maybe not to others. Some "communities" may have more of one type of person than another, but all are equally ?at home? when they are on the ?streets? they feel comfortable strolling down!

Some may enjoy a jaunt down Agora Avenue.
Some may take a spin down to the Coffee Shop.
Some may feel like visiting the Rough House.
Some may ?wake up?, by taking a journey through Y's nightmare!
Some may want a cookie from the Cookie Jar.
Some may want to read a good book at MsMojo?s Bookclub.
Some may look for some fun at the local Fun House!
Some may grab the reins and go for a trot down to Palehorse'sCorral.
Some may just want to Roost a while with Red.
Some may seek a little entertainment in the Palladium of Prose.
Some may visit the neighborhood Cathedral.
Some may go to the local Den of Iniquity and watch some Bitterguy call shots.
Some may desire to go on a ghost hunt with Rousseau.
Some may go AWOL and rant.
Some may look for a Cutie with a condo.
Some may seek their day in Court.
Some may get some work done, down at 442?s Garage
Some may be new in town and look for information at the local Welcome Center.
Some may watch the local or world news.
Some may enjoy some Music at the BB on the edge of town.
Some may even want to take a dive into the Mosh Pit! :spooked:
Some may like to Drool.  :P
And some may get on their Soapbox and Vent!

Some may see a neighbor doing something they commend, and ?applaud? them for it.
And some may want to let a little steam go with a ?Smite? upon their neighbor?s head.

Wherever they go in their community, they will tend to visit the streets of their community where they feel the most ?at home?. Some like to stay on the back roads; some may want to ?cruise? down Main Street for all to see, and some may like to see it all.

It is this diversity, which makes ?The Zone v2.0?, a very special and unique community of great value!  If all streets looked the same, everyone wore the same clothes, and talked and thought alike, it would be a REALLY boring place to live, and most likely would find the streets vacant after a short while.

I regularly visit only two online forums. I used to visit more, but found myself feeling more at home here, and have little time for any others, so I will go where I feel at home.

I enjoy my new ?home? and love my ?neighbors?.  I like sharing my life, thoughts, experiences, and feelings with those neighbors. I am glad that I found a ?home? here in ?The Zone v2.0?, and can walk the streets of this ?community?! Am I comfortable anywhere in town? Not really, but the same could be said in ANY of the ?communities? that I have visited. Does that mean we should condemn all of the streets where someone doesn't feel comfortable? Certainly not! If we did that, then all of the streets would be vacant! Just simply avoiding those areas is all that is needed.

And even though we are a very diverse community, I think most would agree that any community IS what you make of it and contribute to it. The more positive your contributions to your community, the more positive your community will be.

Seeing this community grow as it has been in recent days, shows that it feels like a good place to visit, and for many to call their "home". :yeah:

I look forward to the future and the friendships that will grow out of this diverse and colorful "community" called "The Zone v2.0"!

Neighbor, you said that so well, it brought tears to my eyes and a smile to my face. I am so glad we moved into the same neighborhood.

Hello brother! I'm glad our paths have crossed again! When you, and then Annie moved away from the old neighborhood I was left without any backup concernng defending the faith we share in Jesus Christ. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment, cause I still hang around and share the word at times, even though I sometimes feel like doing like you did and shaking the dust from my shoes. Anyway, like I said, I'm glad we're neighbors again!
