As you prepare to jet away to visit family and friends this upcoming holiday travel season, be sure to remember everything you need. If you are going to a colder climate, pack some sweaters, gloves, a coat, and maybe some long underwear. If you're heading south, some swim trunks, a beach towel, and some sunscreen will come in handy. You'll need these in addition to your usual wardrobe and toiletries.
Be efficient. Roll your clothes instead of folding them. This will create more space in your suitcase for bulkier items, shoes, and other things you may be surprised you can now get in there.
Then, once you've got everything crammed in there the night before you leave, get a good night's sleep, wake up in time to get to the airport a couple of hours early, head to the ticket counter, get your boarding pass, and most importantly, CHECK YOUR GODDAMN LUGGAGE!
STOP TRYING TO SAVE A COUPLE OF MINUTES BY THINKING A STEAMER TRUNK IS A CARRY-ON ITEM!
Because in the end, all of that time you saved waiting at the baggage carousel has been wasted because dozens of other of jag-offs like you said "Fuck it, I'll just carry this on." And you hold up the boarding process looking for room in the overhead bin. Then you hold up the deplaning because all of you have to rummage around for your carry-ons in the bins -- which happen to be ten rows behind your seat because everyone in the back used the front bins because they were too lazy to drag their luggage to the back of the plane with them. So, you had to use a back bin and wait until the back rows had deplaned so you can go back and get your carry-on. All the while, the rest of us who carried on just what we needed for the flight, are stuck waiting on you. Why? Because the carry-on you jammed into the bin is now stuck. So while you try to pull it out without putting your elbow into the nose of the 85 year old woman behind you, we wait.
STOP THE MADNESS! Those planes have great back cargo holds underneath them for your luggage. Use them!
As a frequent air traveler myself, I couldn't agree with this post more. Very well said!
BTW, don't pack any apples in your carryon stuff. I was departing BWI a couple of weeks ago and I had 2 apples in my laptop case. Those apples caused me to be pulled out of line and frisked. LOL! I guess they showed up to the screener as something odd.
